And I can say, we did a lot while we were in Canada. The first week we discovered Ottawa. What is the big government city. Everybody there is working for the government. But the atmosphere is amazing. For me there was a big difference between Canada and the States. The people in Canada are really kind and sweet. But the most important difference for me is: The people in Canada know they are from all around the world, there is no real Canadian, and together they want to work hard for Canada and make it a good, social and healthy society. In the states it feels different. We have met a lot of nice people in the states but if I see it in general they still think there is this ‘real American' and they are busy with themselves and going for the American Dream. I don’t think that exists. And for me that is the biggest difference between those two. But we have still 4 months in the states, so you never know!
The first week we did a lot of sports. On Wednesday you can do free yoga in front of the Parliament. And of course we joined in. It was really busy! Everybody came from work in their break to join the yoga. It was awesome to see it. And after the yoga we did a tour in the Parliament, full of sweat.... We went to play a Ultimate Frisbee game with our friend Stu. What was really cool. This is something nice to do back home with friends. (So if you want, sign up haha!) And Stu got us a really nice Frisbee our last night in Ottawa, so we are ready for it! (Thanks Stu! You are the best. Hope to see you soon men!)
We also joined a softball game with Beth her friends. The team was amazing and we joined them play.
And of course our sport-week couldn’t finish without watching a Ice-Hockey game. It is not the season at the moment so we didn’t saw a real game. This was just for practice. Beth her brother plays hockey at a high level so we went there. And it was amazing! It goes really fast and it was kind of hard to follow. Especially it was our first time to watch a hockey game. But it was fun to watch. The guys were dancing on the ice, like it was nothing. Wish i could do that haha. I can imagine why it is the biggest sport over there.
And in Ottawa we felt like home because we did everything on the bike! Amazing!
It is really in the culture to do a lot of sport. Everybody is running or biking to work. And not because that is the most easy way to go to work but because it is nice to work out. If we were sitting in a park, you see a lot of people working out. It is nice to be part of it and it felt really good.
